  It just doesn't add up

  was there any particular event, teaching, experience where it all came together for you when you really questioned the "truth", or believed it wasn't it couldn't be god's organization?.

  when did you realize and say to yourself, this just doesn't add up?

  a couple of childhood friends of mine, henry caban and alberto caban, both bethelites at one time, were said to be going to law school compliments of the wtbts.

  is it true that they put some 'cream of the crop' bethelites through college depending on what field the society needs?

  And you know what else?!!! No more KH construction contributions for them either!!!

  From now on, I'll probably just contribute $10 or less for our local cong; and this only because I'm being considerate for the time that I still go and know that the utility bills have to get paid.

  They can continue to train whomever, but I'll feel much better because not a penny of mine will go towards it.

  Is it true that they put some 'cream of the crop' bethelites through college depending on what field the Society needs? I can't believe it?!!! Please tell me is not what they're doing with my contributions!

  purple had a thread about sisters and feeling left out or forgotten and while i do totally relate to what she posted about and agree with it from personal experience, what i experienced as a married jw wife i found more intollerable and it was one of the reasons that i ceased to be a jw.

  it is one thing to be a woman and single and feel like you miss out on some social activities because you aren't a "couple' or a "couple where both are jws" and that does stink..

  but be a woman who is married and your husband is a 'so called jw'.. you have no rights.. you can not even talk to the elders without your husband in their presense.

  Question concerning a family member of mine

  the other night i was awake just lying in bed at about 3:00 a.m. when i heard my niece's cell phone ring.

  she answered the call.

  though i didn't or couldn't hear the entire conversation what i did get out of it was that she was somewhere (a restaurant i think) with a guy who had a gun.. she was re-telling the story to whoever she was talking to.. as soon as she hung up the phone i went to talk to her.

  A JW at my work, question?

  there is a guy at work that i had heard was a jw, so i was working with him and we had a few laughs talking and joking around so i was starting to pry and get it out of him that he was a jw, also i had heard a few things and wanted to ask him as well.

  so i asked what he did for christmas and he avoided the question and then i said, "oh yeah your a jehovahs witness" and he said he was, right after he said "but i got some good presents" (admitting your a jw seemed to be awkward for him) as he is the only jw in his family.

  i told him that my parents were as well and my grandparents went to the same hall as he did many years ago.

  Rules on this subject haven't changed. However, I notice that they've softened up on the punishment. No more public announcements, just private counseling and perhaps loss of some privs temporarily.

  Lately it seems like more and more are looking outside the org for mates.

  Quick Introduction

  i've been lurking here for a few months now, and i've been wanting to post for awhile now but i've never really been up to it.

  i first stumbled upon the information about the wtbts being an ngo for 10 years in september, and ever since i've been finding out about all the other things the society has been up to.

  as of now, i'm still going to the meetings, but now my eyes have been truly opened, and i can see things in a whole new perspective, and it's amazing the deception that's going on in the organization.

  I'm in your same situation. Hanging on by the skin of my teeth just to keep a relationship with my parents and husband, and longing for the right time to leave that religion behind.

  there must be hundreds of thousands of current jw's who haven't planned for retirement.

  i know that i was "in" the troof til my mid-forties and always believed what's the point?

  didn't they tell us that advanced degrees were useless?

  I never paid attention to that crap. Got my little college degree and always participated in 401K savings. By the time I retire, I'll be pretty well set. Poor the ones that relied on the Organization for guidance in this respect.

  Oh well, here in the US they'll be taken care of with low housing for the needie, Medicare/Medicaid, and there are other benefit orgs for the poor.

  I know this elder that in the early 80s always said that there was no need to buy a house or participate in savings plans because the New System was right around the corner. Well, now that he's retired, he has very limited income and has to have handouts from the Government and his children. Poor guy! There are many more like him, and they still continue to buy into it.

  I also feel bad for the ones in 3rd world countries! Those types are the ones that buy more into the 'live forever' propaganda, while the elite is here in the US living the high life.

  Management will have much to answer for come judgement day.

  "the jw society " present and forner jw's welcome!.

  i am planning on organizing an organization for jw's.

  only requirement is that members had to be a baptized jw at one time.

  The next time I join any type of organization will be to donate some of my free time for a good cause in my community.
